An insurance agent in Wolcott, Iowa, has been charged with more than 20 felonies for allegedly opening insurance policies in the names of family members without the family knowing the policies had been taken out, the Iowa Department of Insurance announced.
Stanly Blythe, 61, was arrested June 26 and booked into the Scott County Jail, where he is being held on $75,000 cash bail. Investigators said that between February 2024 and January 2025, Bryce opened insurance policies in the names of at least 11 family members and allegedly forged the signatures of his family members on the policy documents.
The policies generated at least $36,000 in commission premiums, according to investigators.
Blythe has been charged with 24 counts, including 11 counts of forgery, a Class D felony, and 10 counts of identity theft over $1,500 and less than $10,000, also a Class D felony. He faces one count of continuing criminal conduct, a Class B felony.
