The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Treasury Department announced this on Wednesday sanctioned Three organizations and two individuals accused the UK-based Palestine Action, the Masar Badil network and the Italy-based Autistici Inventati of having links to violent left-wing extremism.
The designations were made under Executive Order 13224the authority in charge since September 11, 2001, which has allowed the United States to block the property of designated terrorists and those who support or are associated with them. This status is legally distinct from the Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) designation, which is administered by the U.S. Department of State. Masar Badil’s ties run through Samidoun with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), which has been an FTO since 1997, OFAC said. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said “left-wing extremists, their fronts and their supporters should be kept in mind” that the department will “bring to bear the full weight of our economic tools,” adding that “we will continue to cut off the financial lifelines of these groups until they are eliminated.”
OFAC told Palestine Action: banned as a terrorist organization by the United Kingdom under the Terrorism Act 2000 in July 2025, supported acts that injured British law enforcement officers since 2020, including break-ins into British military installations that caused millions of dollars in damage to military equipment, and promoted similar tactics “within the United States and along the U.S.-Mexico border.”
Palestine Action co-founder Huda Ammori rejected the designation, saying: “The fact that Trump is now taking inspiration from Britain’s suppression of the Palestinian freedom movement shows how dangerous this ban is and should be a wake-up call for everyone who cares about free speech and civil liberties.”
OFAC linked Masar Badil to the Palestinian prisoner solidarity network Samidoun, which the US and Canada sanctioned as a PFLP front in October 2024. According to OFAC, the two share fundraising and executive committee members, including sanctioned leaders Khaled Barakat, Mohammad Khatib and Jaldia Abubakra. In Wednesday’s action, two Masar Badil leaders were separately named: Germany-based Zaid Abdulnasser and Brazil-based Rawa Alsagheer.
Autistici Inventati, which describes itself as an “anti-fascist” and “anti-militarist” collective against capitalism, provides website hosting and encrypted communications tools to vetted far-left groups, OFAC said, including the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, which has been designated a terrorist organization by the U.S., U.K. and EU for tactics that have killed thousands in Turkey, Iraq and Syria since 1984, according to OFAC. OFAC authorized Settlement transactions at Autistici Inventati until September 25th.
The parties were added to OFACs List of specially designated nationalsthe freezing of their property and interests in property in the United States or owned or controlled by U.S. persons, and the general prohibition of transactions in blocked property by U.S. persons without authorization or exemption, subjecting violators to civil or criminal penalties. Wednesday’s action follows the State Department’s designation of antifa-affiliated networks in November 2025 and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s designation of antifa networks in July Visa Restriction Policy Targeting left-wing extremist groups is part of what the government describes as a crackdown on left-wing extremist violence.
