Quincy, Massachusetts-based Abella Insurance Group has opened a commercial insurance office in Bedford, New Hampshire.
The Bedford office is Abela’s first official brick-and-mortar presence in the state, which the insurer said reflects the company’s growing New Hampshire presence and its long-term commitment to its agents and customers.
The insurance company sells commercial insurance products in New Hampshire as well as Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. It also sells personal insurance products in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
“Our growth in New Hampshire has been steady and now is a great time to put down roots in the state,” said Bill Hughes, senior vice president and executive officer of Business Clinic.
Abella said Bedford was chosen because of its central location and proximity to the many industries it insures, including contractors, residential, commercial auto, restaurants and manufacturing and process risks.
In 2025, the company reported revenue of more than $1 billion, including $36 million in new commercial line operations, with a focus on New Hampshire. Overall, 2025 was one of the company’s most profitable years, with a combined ratio of 95.2 and net income of $87.5 million.
