Ruian SpecialtiesChicago-based insurance group announces Heather M. Jamison has been appointed president Stewart Professional Risk Underwriting (SSRU)Effective immediately in a planned leadership transition.
Toronto-based SSRU provides specialty underwriting for large accounts, high-risk property and casualty risks and is part of Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers (RSUM), the underwriting management specialty division of Ryan Specialty.
As part of the planned succession process, stephen stewart Will resign as SSRU President today (September 22) and will be succeeded by Jamieson with immediate effect.
Stewart will continue to serve as Canadian Ruian Specialties Jamieson will serve as CEO until the end of 2026, the company said. The position will be effective January 1, 2027, ensuring an orderly transition and continuity for colleagues, brokers, insurance trade partners and the business as a whole.
As president, Jamison will be responsible for day-to-day leadership and business performance, including operations, sales, customer service, insurance carrier relations and the execution of the company’s strategic priorities. She will work closely with Stewart and the broader leadership team during the transition.
“Since founding SSRU in 2016, my goal has been to build the company into what it is today – Canada’s leading underwriter of complex commercial property and casualty business,” Stewart commented in a statement.
“Partnering with Ryan Specialty is a natural next step in the company’s evolution and I believe now is the perfect time for the next generation of leadership to guide the business forward,” he said. “It is an honor to lead SSRU and work with such a talented team. I am delighted that Heather Jamieson has accepted the role of president.” He noted that he has worked closely with Jamieson since 2019.
