Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Says salmonella outbreak linked to jalapeños has infected 431 people in 32 states, up from 345 cases in 27 states report earlier this month.
U.S. health authorities are currently investigating a multi-state outbreak of Salmonella Harvea infections, with the CDC reporting a total of 431 infections and 57 hospitalizations. No Death toll as of August 19. The illness began between June 19 and August 2, according to the CDC.
These infections have been linked to jalapeños from Sinaloa, Mexico, distributed by Coast Citrus dealers.

Salmonella is a group of rod-shaped bacteria that cause salmonellosis, a common foodborne illness. Symptoms usually include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. CDC estimates salmonella causes There are more than 1 million cases of foodborne illness in the United States each year.
The CDC said 91% of respondents reported eating at Mexican-style restaurants, including Chipotle Mexican Grill and QDOBA, before becoming ill. Chipotle switched jalapeño suppliers, while QDOBA restaurants stopped using the ingredient.
The salmonella outbreak comes as U.S. health officials also investigate a multistate cyclosporiasis outbreak linked to lettuce supplied by major foodservice producer Taylor Farms.
